Updated 2001-05-18, but there's probably stuff missing. Look
over here to see what's changed
recently (or just to figure out which of the
pages listed here showed up since your last visit).
This is my attempt to make it easy
to figure out which parts of my web site might interest you without
forcing you to explore the whole darned thing link-by-link. Please
let me know whether this
format works or if you have suggestions for improving it.
Recent changes. Updated every time I make changes,
unlike this page, so look there to see what's been
added (or changed) since 20 July 1998, the last time
the page you're looking at now was updated.
The Beltway Early Music Band, an ensemble which
performs -- you guessed it -- early music (i.e.
pre-Bach). Unlike Sylvan Ayres, below, The
Beltway Early Music Band uses a mix of period
and modern instruments.
Thrir Venstri Foetr is a dance troupe specializing
in historical dance, with a focus on English
Country Dance. Follow this link for information
on Playford Spice, the band which plays for the
dancers, as well.
Wild Oats is a folk and folk-rock band playing
a mix of traditionals, originals, and classic
rock. Their web page is moving. New location
not yet known.
An introduction to playing the
oud,
for folks who already play guitar.
defs (directory)
Definitions, explanations, descriptions ... originally
a place to put pages defining obscure terms used on
other pages, but the instruments page, below, became
more than that.
Descriptions (and in some cases, pictures) of
various musical instruments I consider interesting.
This started out just being about early instruments
mentioned on my other pages, but it grew.
Details of upcoming performances and other events
(such as Pennsic, see below). The contents of this
directory change a bit as my calendar changes, so
I'll only list some of the highlights here. See
the index page for
this directory, or better yet, my
performance calendar for a list.
My Pennsic pages rate their own "what's new"
page.
Note: I'll eventually move this page
into my pennsic directory -- if you have links
to it,
let me know so I can tell you when I do so.
A map of Pennsic. The site is huge.

The computers I had to get rid of the last time I
moved, including a sad picture of them lined up
awaiting the garbage collector. Even sadder if
you have any fondness for ancient hardware.
My wishlist. Some time back I commented on
how much easier it'd be to buy gifts for
people if you could look up what they wanted
on their web pages. Eventually I decided to
go ahead and do that. I was a bit surprised
surprised when a complete stranger emailed
me to say he had something I wanted and offerring
to send it to me! Nifty!
misc (directory)
As you might guess from the name, this directory
contains pages that didn't fit anywhere else, or
which are relevant to everything else (but I didn't
want cluttering up the top-level directory).
Yes, copyright. Just because it's on the
web for everyone to see doesn't mean I've
given up my right to control who makes copies
of it or where else it gets published. If you
want to use anything I've created, ask permission
first.
I'm slowly accumulating an on-line photo gallery to
show off some of my work with the camera. Not much
there yet, but as I borrow time on friends' scanners,
it'll grow.
tmp (directory)
A temporary place to store things that I want to
show one or two people and then remove, or which
I haven't decided where to keep yet. Any file
in this directory may be moved or deleted in the
future, so be wary of setting links to files here.
This should move to my Pennsic directory or
my photo gallery. It's a picture I took at
Pennsic, using lightning as my light source.
I got a cool double-exposure out of it.
