The pages linked from here are short (uh, with one exception) explanations of phrases or ideas I refer to elsewhere on my site that may not be familiar to most readers:

• BDSM -- a very brief look at a few related terms and a smidgen of insight into the phenomenon; less than you'd find in most "intro to" texts. (Nothing scary, I think, but not really a page for children to look at.)
• CE/BCE in historical dates -- an explanation and brief essay.
• ceilidh / ceili -- just a definition.
• smbols for days of the week -- seven astrological symbols that also stand for days of the week, and also for metals.
• filk, a musical genre -- three definitions, ranging from least formal to most formal.
• goy -- just a definition.
• interesting musical instruments -- a long page containing descriptions, and in some cases links to photographs -- of various musical instruments that are a) obscure or 'obsolete', b) interesting for some other reason, or c) commonplace but included for completeness because they're mentioned elsewhere on my web site.
• brief descriptions of a few groups (and a subculture) that I'm in

While each of these pages was originally nothing more than a place to link footnotes to from other pages on my site, a few have turned out to be useful enough to other people that they're being linked to from other places on the web.
